Chinese American Veteran Memorial

In honor of Veterans Day 2021 we show this photograph from our collection with members of American Legion Cathay Post 186 honoring those killed in WW II at the memorial the Post had erected on the Chong Wa parking lot in 1950. The memorial was moved to Hing Hay Park in 1987.

On December 9, 2020, 75 years after the end of World War II, Congress awarded the Congressional Gold Medal collectively to the Chinese American Veterans of WWII in recognition of their service. A bronze replica of the medal is now on display for the month on November in the Welcome Hall of the museum. Stop by to see this historic medal.
