National Candy Day

Wing Luke Collection 2008.034.002 - Broad spoons used at the Sagamiya Confectionary

Today happens to be National Candy Day and in honor of sweets generally, we’re featuring these spoons that were used at the Sagamiya Confectionary, a Japanese confectionary that operated from the 1900's to 1970's at 524 Main Street in Nihonmachi. They were especially known for their mochi or even more specifically their wagashi, traditional palm-sized Japanese confections made of mochi, anko (azuki bean paste), and fruit. What are your favorite sweet treats?
