Takano Studio
This is Takami Hibiya and Yoshiko Iwanaga's wedding portrait taken in December 1935 at Takano Studio. Takami later became a longtime editor of the Hokubei Houchi/North American Post, the oldest Japanese-language newspaper published in the Pacific Northwest founded in 1902. This portrait was taken by Takano Studio, a very active Japanese photo studio in Seattle in the 1930s. It is one of hundreds of portraits in our Takano Studio Collection -- that collection was featured in the 2011 exhibit Vintage Japantown: Through the Lens of the Takano Studio in our Community Portrait Gallery.
