National Radio Day

Did you know that National Radio Day is August 20th? Radio was the predominate media in the 1930s and 40s. From the first radio broadcast in 1920 the use of radio boomed. By 1938, 80 percent of American homes had one.

This particular radio is featured in our immersive exhibit of the Yick Fung Co. storefront in the old Freeman Hotel located in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District. Visit our museum and join one of our Historic Hotel Tours to see how much the world has changed in the last century.

Do you find other technology in the Yick Fung space now a thing of the past?
